Fritz Hinrichs, the mild-mannered
tutor (and sometime Homeric hero) of Escondido, son of Tom and Joanne Hinrichs,
and Christy Hass, sometime slave of the government school system (soon
to be freed in order to gain her status as Homeric trophy bride) of Rocklin,
are delighted to announce the successful culmination of their whirlwind
twenty-eight day courtship, (which, though objectively was a short period of
time, was subjectively perceived to be unduly long) aided by the successful
matchmaking skills and spatula divination of Tamara Olsen of Elk Grove (call now for special deals
in the holiday season!).
Christy graduated from
Temecula Valley High School in 1990 and Westmont College in 1994.
She is currently an English teacher at Oakmont High. She enjoys rabble-rousing
on her soap box by telling her students that China is going to take over
unless they start reading more than Pokemon books and Sports Illustrated.
Fritz graduated from
San Pasqual High School in 1986 and St. John’s College in 1990. He
went on to receive an M.A. in religion from Westminster Seminary in 1992.
He is the sole proprietor of Escondido Tutorial
Services where he teaches classical literature and mathematics on the
Internet.
Fritz enjoys making music,
reading, woodworking, seeing students sweat, and producing mental discipline
in them by demanding protracted periods of cognition while Christy likes
to cook, run, read, interpretive dance, look at her scintillating engagement
ring, spend time with children, and give Fritz a hard time about not knowing
Latin.
Mr. Hinrichs and Miss
Hass were engaged outside of Slocum House Restaurant on Friday, November
19th at 8:00 with
lines from Aeneid, half-memorized poetry, and rain.
They will honeymoon in
Switzerland where they plan to study professional yodeling in hopes of
having a Y2K compliant occupation in case Mr. Hinrichs’ business goes up
in smoke before returning to Escondido to take up residence and begin a
two-person campaign to substantially increase the homeschool population
of the United States.
