This year’s Family Fling will be a wonderful four days of academic and spirited fellowship.

Students are encouraged to come with their families.  If you have a local family who will sponsor you, you may come without your family, however, host families are respectfully requested not to host more than four students.  If you would like to be hosted or to host a family, please contact Fritz@Hinrichs.org

There is a charge of $125 per family to participate in these four days if a parent will be in attendance for at least half the event.  Students who come without a a parent are $90 each.  When sending in payment, please remember your payment for the Shakespeare play, the GBT IV dinner, potluck buyout option as well as the deduction for those who help clean up on Monday .  Please have your payment in along with a list of those attending by June 1st.   We will not allow registrations at the Fling.   Please send to ETS at the address above.

Students who come must attend all events.  Some events are optional and are marked as such on the schedule.  Please do not sign up for the fling if you are not able to set aside the time to be with us for all events.  All current students of ETS and their families are welcome to come.   Siblings are welcome to attend all events as long as parents have them in sight at all times.   During the day, portions of the Hinrichs' grounds will be available for siblings to play.  Parents not supervising younger siblings will be asked to take them to Felicita Park.

Please bring your own non-disposable water bottle.  Please do not bring disposable water bottles- these are often left about  creating trash.  We will have water to refill your bottles.

If you would like to see pictures of our past Flings, please see the ETS yearbook.   Please acquaint yourself with the ETS dress code before coming.  It will be enforced, so please err on the side of modesty as you plan your wardrobe.  We will have t-shirts to hand out to those who come inappropriately clothed.

See you in Escondido!

Mr. and Mrs. Hinrichs

Fling registration is closed.
Please see the bottom of this page for

We will meet at the Hinrichs house at 4:15 and drive down together to Il Fornaio in Coronado.  If you would like to meet us down there at 5:00, you can get directions here.  You can see their menu here.  The restaurant has views of the San Diego skyline and bay.  We will then attend the 7:30 showing of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Lamb's Players - http://www.lambsplayers.org/lpt06/pages/whats_playing/joseph/joseph.html   The actors in the play will take our questions after the show.
You will need to pay your own way at the restaurant including 20% gratuity.  The play tickets cost $14.  You need to have payment in by June 1st.

8:30 - arrival time

9:00 - 11:00 Fling introduction, group photo, name game, coin cleaning, Greek lesson

11:00 - 12:00 Music talk by Mr. Hinrichs

12:00 - 2:00 Lunch- Potluck

Please bring your own drinks, plates and utensils.  Please bring a main course and if your last initial begins with A-L please bring a salad or side dish and if M-Z, a dessert.  Please bring an amount proportionate to the number of mouths you bring with you.  All potlucks follow these same instructions.  Please note the the BBQ will be available.

Potluck buyout option.  If you would not like to bring food for the potluck, simply include $20 for each of your family members coming to the fling and we will purchase hamburgers and hotdogs to supplement our feast on your behalf so that you may participate.

We would like to introduce a new opportunity for those with a culinary bent.  On Wednesday, after the potluck, esteemed judges will taste whatever is entered into the contest and will select the winning entry.

If you would like to enter, please bring your entry on Wednesday (which should be a dessert) into the Hinrichs’ kitchen when you arrive in the morning.  Label it clearly as an entry for the contest, so that it does not end up on the general potluck table accidentally.  Make sure to talk to me (Mrs. Hinrichs) and I will assign you a number for your dessert.  Absolute secrecy is vital!  No one should know what you have made until everything has been judged.   Do not put your name on this label and do not attempt to bribe the judges to choose your entry. Any attempts to sabotage competitors’ desserts will result in an afternoon or morning in the ETS stocks.  (Whoops—we don’t have any.  Don’t worry—we’ll think of an appropriate punishment.)

If you would like to judge, please contact Mrs. Hinrichs at: Christy@hinrichs.org

Thank you for your interest—happy baking!

2:00 Music and Poetry Recital

If you would like to play a piece of music or recite poetry for the recital, please contact: Nicole Lasalle - solideogloria88@gmail.com

Please take note of the following guidelines. I will be making up the final version of the program on Tuesday, June 14th; if you'd like to perform, please let me know by the evening of Monday, June 18th.. I will not make any additions to the program after the 19th. Also, please only tell me you will perform if you are sure you can do so--if at all possible, I would rather not have to remove anyone from the program. Mr. Hinrichs also asked that the recital not be any longer than 2 hours, so I'll need to know how long your performance will be. He also said that music of any style is welcome, so long as there is no need of electronic amplification.  At present there is no time limit, but if the recital gets too long I may have to remove some numbers (i.e., ask some students to play only one piece instead of two or three. ;)) I will also need the name of the piece and the composer's name.  Please do not sign up until you are sure of those details.  Thank you all for your cooperation--I hope to make this recital as enjoyable as possible!

7:00 - Theater Night

If you would like to perform a short skit, please contact Amanda Helland amh04b@acu.edu for approval.

Play: Aristophanes- The Clouds

Please contact Amanda Helland amh04b@acu.edu as soon as possible if you would like a part.

If you are interested in acting, please be aware of the following:

*You need to memorize your part prior to the Fling.
*You need to coordinate a costume.
* You will probably need to practice your part during lunchtime and possibly during the free afternoon on Friday.
